Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
White frosting or melted white chocolate
Candy eyes
Instructions:
- Prepare the Sugar Cookie Dough:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add the egg and vanilla extract, and beat until combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms. - Chill the Dough:
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 1 hour until firm. - Roll and Bake the Cookies:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out round cookie shapes using a cookie cutter or a glass.
Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are slightly golden.
Let the cookies cool completely. - Decorate as Mummies:
Once cooled, spread a thin layer of white frosting or melted white chocolate over the top of each cookie.
Use a piping bag with a small round tip (or a ziplock bag with the corner cut off) to pipe thin lines of frosting across the cookies, creating a mummy bandage effect.
Stick two candy eyes in between the frosting “bandages.” - Serve:
Let the frosting set, then serve these spooky mummy cookies at your Halloween party!
